Centenary Celebrations for Our Lady of Perpetual Succour Chapel in Gunnedah

On Friday 2 May 2025 ADIG took part in the centenary celebrations for the dedication of the Chapel of Our Lady of Perpetual Succour at the Convent of Mercy—now a part of St Mary’s College in Gunnedah.

ADIG along with clergy, local parishioners, representatives from the Sisters of Mercy, Josephite Sisters, and students from St Xavier’s Primary and St Mary’s College joined together to mark this special occasion.

Mass was celebrated by Fr John Curran with the homily delivered by Fr Paul McCabe. In his homily Fr McCabe highlighted that, “The Sisters of Mercy have left a lasting legacy in Gunnedah, a profound influence on the community. They have been a witness to the Gospel of Jesus and integral to the spiritual and cultural development of Gunnedah.”

The celebration also provided an opportunity to acknowledge and thank the Sisters of Mercy for their important contribution to the education of children in the Gunnedah community as well as our wider Diocesan school system over the last 100 years.

ADIG is proud to be able to participate in these celebrations, highlighting the continued support the ADIG provides to our schools and parishes.
