We recently sat down with Janna, one of our most recent customers who has opened a Bonus Saver Account. Here’s what she had to say:
Q: Please tell us a little about yourself, are you originally from Armidale and what are you currently doing?
A: I am in my 20s and am originally from Brisbane. My family is still there. I moved down to Armidale for missionary work. I do volunteer work for the Catholic Church, guided by the community of the Sisters and Brothers of the Immaculata. I have been working a lot with young people supporting the youth in the parish. I also work within the Catholic Chaplaincy at UNE and within St Albert’s College. A lot of our work is one-on-one with the university students.
Q: How did you hear about the ADIG?
A: I first heard of ADIG from the parish, but I didn’t know much about it and didn’t think much about it either. I always thought it was about making large investments. I later learnt more about the ADIG during the Immaculata Mission School in January this year, when George had an information stand. I didn’t know that I could have an account, and I didn’t know that ADIG helped people with small savings goals like me.
Q: What interested you about the Bonus Saver Account?
A: With ADIG I know where my money is going. Knowing that where my money was going—back into the Diocese and parish—was important to me. Knowing I only have to put in $10 a month and make no withdrawals to qualify for the bonus interest, encourages me to save more. I also really like that there are no account fees. Knowing that with every Bonus Saver account opened, ADIG makes a donation to the HOPe kitchen, also helped my decision. Having volunteered at the HOPe kitchen last year, it was great to know that ADIG also supports HOPe and it is a great initiative to support.
Q: What are you saving towards at the moment?
A: I’m just saving for the future at the moment.
Q: How easy was it to open your account?
A: Really easy, I went to the office, Carmel was really helpful and friendly. We completed all the forms there and then. It was helpful that it was all really easy.
Q: Would you recommend the ADIG to a friend?
A: Yes I would. I have already been recommending it to others.
